Arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Bjorn Borg is also a proud father. Leo Borg, who advanced to the Chennai Open 2021 finals, is following in his father’s footsteps and may achieve nothing but success on the tennis court. The majority of people would assume that Leo must look up to his father because he is the son of Bjorn Borg. But Leo disproved this idea during the competition and revealed who his true hero is.
You never would have guessed that Rafael Nadal is the tennis player that this young sensation looks up to! Given that Rafael Nadal is regarded as one of the all-time great tennis players, Leo’s respect for him makes sense. His father, nevertheless, doesn’t seem to mind that his son is fixated on the legendary Spanish tennis player.
Rafael Nadal is now Leo Borg’s star to follow.
Leo stated that Rafael Nadal, not his father Bjorn Borg, was his ultimate tennis idol. Leo, a talented juvenile who is always working to become a professional tennis player, hopes to attend Rafael Nadal’s Mallorcan academy on a regular basis.
“My father is the captain of the European team, so I met Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup,” Leo Borg said to the Spanish newspaper “Marca.” Leo did not, however, fall in love with Rafael Nadal’s style of play after meeting the 22-time Grand Slam victor. Leo explains, “Ever since I was a child, he has been my hero.”
Speaking more about his training circumstances at the time, he stated that he frequently travels to Mallorca while “living and training in Stockholm” and having a coach in Sweden.
This demonstrates his willingness to pick up skills from some of the world’s top players and coaches. As he states, “I want to play tennis professionally and earn a living… My goal is to make it into the Top 10.
This demonstrates that he is doing the necessary preparations in order to become a professional player and that he is looking to do so.
