We are approaching the last chapter of Castle. After eight seasons, ABC canceled the long-running drama starring Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion. Yes, it was canceled following the outcry from fans that Katic would not be returning for season nine. As soon as the news emerged, Katic turned to Twitter. “Dear Castle fans, cast, and crew: Your devotion to our show has carried us for these unforgettable eight seasons,” she penned in a handwritten note that was shared on Twitter. “I consider myself fortunate to have worked with and met all of you. I’ll be appreciative forever. Hugs, Stana.
Season 9 contract renewals were not requested for Tamala Jones or Katic. “Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years,” ABC remarked after announcing their departures. We hope to work with Stana Katic in the future and are appreciative of her ability and commitment to the series. We are happy that Tamala Jones was a part of Castle since she has also been a crucial component of the series.”
