In December, he led Boston to a 12-2 record.
The NBA declared on Thursday that Joe Mazzulla is the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for games played in December.
The Celtics finished 12-2 under the direction of their second-year head coach, including 8-1 against teams with a.500 or higher record. After only Doc Rivers (six) and Brad Stevens (three), Mazzulla is tied for third place in franchise history with his two wins. He received similar recognition in October and November of last year.
In terms of percentage, this was Boston’s finest December since the 2007–08 championship year. The Celtics led the NBA in defensive rebounds (35.4), averaged the most 3-pointers (16.6), and finished second in points per game (126.5).
For the first time in team history, they scored more than 125 points in four straight road games and more than 144 points in a single game.
In the Western Conference, Clippers coach Ty Lue won the award after leading Los Angeles to an 11-2 record.
