A fiery declaration is released by a Celtics legend during his reunion with Bird and McHale.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s achievements were made possible by a lengthy line of Boston Celtics luminaries. Those two currently lead the NBA’s most historic team, but brilliance laid the foundation for it.

The bar was established by Bill Russell’s 11 titles, and Larry Bird continued the enchantment. Bird’s Celtics were the best of the bunch, competing with players like Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Cedric Maxwell, and others.

That was a memorable time for Celtics basketball, from the well-known rivalry with Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers to the bloody games against Isiah Thoms’ Detroit Pistons.

This past weekend, Bird, McHale, Parish, and Maxwell got back together in the city they used to run. They were there during the Boston grand opening of the new Dick’s Sporting Goods shop. They met with both fans and the media there.

When the foursome shared the floor, they were completely dominant, and McHale grinned as he thought back to those moments.

This quartet really took the court by storm. Before Parish cut him off, McHale told CLNS Media, “We’d play big, we’d play small.”

However, Parish interrupted him midway through, making a declaration that was inappropriate for work.

McHale and Maxwell erupted in laughter as Parish employed some inventive wording to characterize the quartet’s dominance on the court; the latter promptly responded with a jest in an effort to tamp down his erstwhile partner. Maxwell chuckled and remarked, “This is a family show.”

Bird rarely returns to Boston, so getting back together with his teammates served as a welcome reminder of the amazing past of the Celtics franchise.
