After Kevin Durant is called a “follower” by Charles Barkley, Gilbert Arenas defends the player.

Charles Barkley receives criticism from Gilbert Arenas for taking on Kevin Durant.

Basketball legend Kevin Durant received support from former NBA point guard Gilbert Arenas during an appearance on his show. The remarks, which directly target Charles Barkley, are made in response to Barkley’s description of Kevin Durant as a “bus rider” who hasn’t yet won a championship with his own team.

“When you call somebody a follower, not a leader, let us know which team that you lead or was leading,” Arenas remarked. “Despite being the Suns’ best player, you didn’t take the lead. It was pre-established when you arrived. You wanted to attempt and win a ring after you bailed out in Philadelphia. Thus, if you harbor resentment toward someone like Kevin Durant, you should take a step back, examine yourself, and consider the f*cking job you pursued at the time.”

Barkley has made more money on “Inside the NBA” than he has in his whole basketball career, and he speaks loudly from his platform. Barkley is currently at odds with a number of players, including Kevin Durant. Their relationship became apparent at the 2024 All-Star game when Barkley attempted to clarify why Durant wasn’t a leader.

“No disrespect to Kevin Durant, he’s a follower, he’s not a leader,” stated Chuck. “He has demonstrated that everywhere. Although Booker is a fantastic talent, he will need to take the lead to elevate this Suns club. I don’t want to say anything negative about Kevin since he’s an incredible player. I made the same statement regarding Boston: one of you needs to come forward.”

It’s obvious that those remarks offended some people, but considering Durant’s past performance, that’s how a lot of people feel about him. And he might wind up proving everyone wrong if he is unable to win another championship to demonstrate that he can succeed without Steph Curry’s influence.
