Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City might be considering leaving in January after struggling to make Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup.
WHAT OCCURED? According to The Mirror, one of the teams looking at signing the England international is Bundesliga champion Munich. Since completing his £45 million transfer from Leeds in July 2022, the midfielder has played just 70 minutes in the Premier League, starting just two games. Phillips was on Bayern’s short list for the summer until they decided to pursue Joao Palhinha from Fulham in an unsuccessful transfer.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: The defending Premier League champions are reportedly once more open to the prospect of a loan exit, although a permanent transfer may be preferred given that Phillips hasn’t yet made an impression in Manchester.
THEN WHAT? Phillips is now a member of the England national team and is most likely to play in their October 17 Euro qualifier against Italy.
