ANOTHER NBA ICON HAS ELEVATIONS VISITING INDIAna for the opening of the Larry Bird Museum

Even though I love basketball so much, it shouldn’t happen that sometimes I forget that one of the best players in history was born and raised only 85 miles away.

 

However, after visiting French Lick, Indiana, you won’t soon forget it. From the beginning, NBA hero Larry Bird was a Hoosier basketball superstar. In his final year at Springs Valley High School, he averaged 31 points, 21 rebounds, and four assists. And although though he didn’t really play for the Indiana Hoosiers, as a forward for Indiana State University in Terre Haute, he was a key player in one of the most significant college basketball games in history.

What a thrilling moment for basketball in Indiana, Terre Haute, and Indiana State. The Sycamores have advanced to the NIT Final Four despite narrowly losing out on a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

 

And now, a museum honoring perhaps the greatest hoosier to ever play basketball will open in a few short weeks.
