After the club underwent a makeover in 2023, Jurgen Klopp is looking to add another central midfield player, and Liverpool is keeping an eye on Morten Frendrup of Genoa.
During the summer transfer season, Anfield welcomed four new players while Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left.
The Genoa midfielder Frendrup has now surfaced as a potential transfer target for the Reds, according to Anfield Watch. Liverpool is reportedly keeping a careful eye on his progress in Italy, even though they haven’t yet made a formal inquiry.
After moving from Brondby to Genoa in 2022, Frendrup has become as one of the best defensive midfielders in Serie A in the recent season.
In Fabinho’s former position at Anfield, Klopp has primarily favored the aforementioned Mac Allister. However, the Argentine is not the most suited for this deep-lying role and has had moments of difficulty this season.
Signing Frendrup, though, would take care of this issue because the Genoa player specializes in backline protection. To be exact, no player in Serie A has recorded more tackles this season than he has so far (47).
Anfield Watch reports that Genoa doesn’t anticipate having Frendruo on staff for very long because fans are starting to form a queue for the 22-year-old Dane.
Liverpool distances itself from Andre
FootballTransfers has gathered that although Liverpool was strongly connected to a bid for Fluminense sensation Andre, they have since moved on to other targets.
The club has reportedly informed the young Brazilian that they are now considering other options, despite their long-standing interest in him.
Although Fulham is said to be the front-runner, sources tell us that Fluminense has not received any approaches yet, except than those made during the summer window. The 22-year-old’s sale is now expected to fetch between €30 and €40 million for the club.
