Aston villa Confirmed Squad against Tottenham

The long list of injuries for Spurs has grown by two before the crucial visit of Unai Emery’s high-flying players.

Pape Matar Sarr, a midfielder for Tottenham, sustained an injury while playing for Senegal on international duty.

Sarr did not practice on Friday. He will be evaluated on Saturday to see if he can play in Sunday’s crucial home match against Aston Villa.

Villa defeated Spurs in the previous season, but Ange Postecoglou’s team needs a win this weekend to get back on track following losses to Chelsea and Wolves in quick succession prior to the international break.

Postecoglou stated on Friday, “We’re still checking on Pape Matar Sarr, who has a bit of an issue coming back from the national team.” “We’ll check up on him tomorrow.

He wasn’t in the gym today. Apart from that, Destiny (Udogie) will return, but [Yves] Bissouma is suspended.

Ashley Phillips, who joined Tottenham’s senior team from Blackburn in the summer, was expected to see action while Micky van de Ven was sidelined and Cristian Romero was suspended. However, he has now sustained another injury.

Ashley Phillips’ manager stated, “Young Ashley Phillips picked up an ankle injury with the England [Under-19s] team.” He will be absent for a little period. We’re still evaluating it, but that will likely take at least a month. I believe that everything else is good.

The manager of the Spurs added that there is no updated information on Van van Ven’s and James Maddison’s injury returns. It is still anticipated that both would be sidelined until 2024.

Given Bissouma’s suspension for Tottenham’s match against Villa, Rodrigo Bentancur may start for the first time since sustaining an ACL injury in February.

In a 2026 World Cup qualifier against South American rivals Bolivia, he got the start for Uruguay on Tuesday, as they won 3-0.

Vicario; Porro, Dier, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Hojbjerg, Bentancur; Kulusevski, Son, Johnson were Tottenham’s expected starting lineup (4-3-3)

Richardson, Van de Ven, Maddison, Solomon, Sessegnon, Perisic, Phillips, and Whiteman are among the injured.

Uncertainty: Sarr

Romero, Bissouma are suspended
