Over the years, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Barry Hawkins have engaged in some amazing battles; this Thursday’s Masters quarterfinal matchup between the two could result in another close contest.
After O’Sullivan defeated Hawkins in two historic World Championship finals, the two have engaged in other intense matchups.
Although O’Sullivan has recently defeated Hawkins twice decisively at the World Grand Prix, their meeting at the 2021 Tour Championship went the full distance as O’Sullivan triumphed 10-9. This was just a month after the Rocket defeated O’Sullivan 6-4 at the Players Championship.
O’Sullivan won 6-4 in the Players Championship in 2019 and 11-9 in the Shanghai Masters final in 2018.
Although Hawkins hasn’t had many victories over O’Sullivan—and he’s by no means the only one—his 13–12 triumph in another close match at the 2016 World Championship was an excellent outcome.
