It’s time to check in on Arsenal’s army of loan players, with Charlie Patino, Kieran Tierney, and Nuno Tavares all seeing action in the last week.
Another week has passed, and numerous members of this season’s Arsenal loan army are reflecting on their mixed feelings. The choice to send Charlie Patino to Swansea City, in particular, appears to be a brilliant piece of business.
In terms of personal progress, the teenage midfielder had three assists in four games prior to Saturday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday at home, but he broke his duck for the Swans with a delightful chipped finish to seal their first Championship win of the season.
And, later, on social media, Patino emphasized the significance of the result and getting on the scoreboard: “Exactly what we needed! “3pts,” he captioned a photo on Instagram. “Let’s continue from here and try again next week.” I’m overjoyed to have scored my first goal for @swansofficial. “Have a good weekend, Jack Army.”
For various reasons, Runar Alex Runarsson, Arthur Okonkwo, Brian Okonkwo, Alex Kirk, Mika Biereth, Tyreece John-Jules, Henry Jeffcott, and Billy Vigar did not play for their respective clubs over the last week. Despite missing Den Bosch’s 4-1 loss to Roda JC, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand is getting closer to a return, as he released a video of himself participating in a training session.
A Catalin Cirjan appearance for Rapid Bucharest tonight (Monday) would top off a hectic week for Arsenal’s loanees, but Mauro Bandeira will most likely prefer to forget about it. He was a member of the Colchester United team that lost 5-0 at home to Tottenham in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday and was an unused replacement in Saturday’s loss to Crewe.
Albert Sambi Lokonga did help Luton Town earn their first Premier League point, drawing 1-1 at home with Wolves, while Nuno Tavares was in the Nottingham Forest side that fell 2-0 at champions Manchester City. The left-back not only struggled, but he was taken off in the 39th minute with a suspected groin injury.
