Erling Haaland’s contract is up for renewal, but Manchester City may lose the talented Norwegian as early as 2025 despite their desire to do so.
According to a recent article from 90min, the 23-year-old Haaland’s current contract includes a number of release clauses, including a fixed-price release cost of £150 million that will take effect in 2025.
In addition, while Real Madrid has always been thought of as the striker’s likely destination if he were to leave the Etihad Stadium, another club has entered the picture: Barcelona.
Although the financial stability of both La Liga teams is still unknown, the two are taking fresh steps to secure their continued existence beyond Covid, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the two European powerhouses compete for probably the finest striker in the sport.
Haaland has already scored 58 goals in 59 games across all competitions since arriving in Manchester in the summer of 2022 after leaving Borussia Dortmund for £51 million (Sky Sports).
