Two bids for forward Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa have been turned down by Middlesborough.
Unai Emery is quite interested in the 21-year-old, who only moved from Manchester City to Middlesbrough six months ago in the Championship.
They talked about him when they sold Jack Grealish to City, and he made an impression against Villa in the FA Cup.
Born in Halesowen, not far from Birmingham, Rogers began his career at West Brom, where he made one substitute appearance before moving on to Manchester City in 2019.
He spent time on loan at Lincoln, Bournemouth, and Blackpool but never appeared in a senior game for City.
He was signed by Boro in the summer, and so far this season, he has made 31 appearances, scoring six goals, and assisting Carrick’s team to the Carabao Cup semifinals.
Following his Friday medical, Villa is expected to sign Red Star Belgrade right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic.
The 18-year-old will make a loan return to Red Star. The 21-year-old’s departure will also result in a sell-on fee owed to Man City.
Villa has been in contact with Swedish team Elfsborg over Icelandic goalkeeper Hákon Valdimarsson.
