Devastating Blow: Cowboys Announce Star Wide Receiver’s Major Injury Threatening Season Plans Badly…
The Cowboys received a major piece of injury news on Wednesday, activating the 21-day practice windows for both WR Brandin Cooks and DE Marshawn Kneeland.
They’ll now have three weeks to ramp up to speed before rejoining their teammates on the field. Cooks’ return, in particular, looms large given how much Dallas’ offense is struggling with Cooper Rush under center.
All year long, receivers other than CeeDee Lamb have failed to create separation. Cooks is a proven, reliable weapon, so getting him back will make things easier for the rest of the offense.
Cowboys Activate Brandin Cooks’ 21-Day Practice Window After Injury
This is Cooks’ second year with the organization. He caught 54 passes for 657 yards and eight TDs in 2023, emerging as the team’s clear second-best option in the passing game. This season was more of an issue, as Cooks had only nine receptions for 91 yards and one score in four games prior to getting shut down with injury.
The 31-year-old wideout should expect to improve on that production once he’s fully healthy. Rush isn’t close to Dak Prescott’s level, but Cooks has performed well with a variety of quarterbacks over his lengthy career.
Dallas is still enduring a failed season with no hope of making the playoffs. Cooks is an unrestricted free agent next year, making this upcoming stretch of games critical. It’s unclear whether the Cowboys want to bring him back but either way, Cooks is approaching the twilight of his career and needs to prove worthy of another big contract.
The Cowboys take on the Commanders in Week 12 before a Thanksgiving showdown with the Giants. Cooks’ debut will likely come on December 9 against the Bengals, though it’s possible he targets the Thanksgiving Day contest instead.
Regardless, Cooks’ imminent return is great news for Rush and the entire Dallas offense.

Cowboys Vet May Have Played Final Snap in Dallas After Injury News
A long-time Cowboys starter suffers another injury against the Texans in Week 11.

The Dallas Cowboys suffered their fifth straight loss in Week 11, getting blown out by the Houston Texans at home. In the process of embarrassing themselves once again, they also suffered injuries to key players. In the second half of the game, when the Cowboys failed to score, they lost three offensive linemen: Tyler Guyton, Tyler Smith, and Zack Martin.
Veteran right guard Zack Martin’s injury is particularly concerning. The 33-year-old exited the game early and did not return. Cowboys insider Calvin Watkins later reported that the All-Pro offensive lineman has injuries to both ankles.
Cowboys News: Zack Martin Leaves Game With Ankle Injuries
Martin was a limited participant in practice all week with a shoulder injury but was able to suit up on Monday. The long-time starter was available in all 10 of the Cowboys’ games this season but the injuries are starting to pile up for the veteran.
The Cowboys reworked Martin’s contract in the offseason to open up salary cap space this year and allow his cap hit to spread over the next two seasons. His contract was set to expire after this season but had three voidable years through 2027. Considering where the franchise is, it’s hard to see Martin coming back to Dallas next season.
If Martin decided to continue to play, he should have plenty of suitors in free agency. Even though he hasn’t been at his usual level this season, he is still one of the better offensive linemen in the league. If injuries and age-related decline prove to be too much, Martin can choose to retire after having had one of the most illustrious careers in the league.
Regardless of what he chooses to do in the offseason, Martin’s time in Dallas is clearly coming to an end. He may have even played his final game already.

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had the best of luck with injuries this season. They’ve seen Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Marshawn Kneeland, and Brandin Cooks miss significant time due to various injuries.
Then a couple of weeks ago, the Cowboys saw star quarterback Dak Prescott go down with a season-ending hamstring injury. It’s safe to say that the Cowboys can’t get rid of the injury bug.
The good news for Dallas is some of those players have returned or are on their way back. However, the injury bug hit the team again on Monday night. Dallas saw young safety Markquese Bell suffer a scary shoulder injury against the Houston Texans.
Bell was one of the Cowboys’ rising stars on defense last season as he played some linebacker under then-defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
However, under new DC Mike Zimmer, Bell returned to his natural position at safety. This season, he has played 34 defensive and 168 special teams snaps.
In addition to his work on defense, Bell plays a big role on special teams, so his impact on the field will be missed.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Bell will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated left shoulder. Archer also highlighted how upset special teams coordinator John Fassel was when talking about the young defender on Tuesday.
Fassel and the Cowboys pride themselves on having a good special teams unit from kicking/punting, kick coverage, and the return game. Nevertheless, Dallas must find a solution/replacement for Bell ahead of Sunday’s road game against the Washington Commanders.

Cowboys Announce Big QB Injury News Before MNF Kickoff
The Dallas Cowboys finally moved Dak Prescott off the active roster.

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-6 on the season and have dropped four games in a row. The season is in a tailspin right now, as they host the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football to end the Week 11 slate of games.
A big reason the 2024 season has little hope left is that quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the season with a hamstring injury. Although it was announced on Nov. 12 that Prescott would undergo season-ending surgery, the team officially placed him on injured reserve ahead of the Monday Night Football contest.
The @dallascowboys placed QB Dak Prescott on Reserve/Injured and signed CB Josh Butler from the practice squad.
The club also elevated CB Kemon Hall and TE Princeton Fant from the practice squad for tonight’s game against Houston.

Cowboys News: Dak Prescott is Placed on Injured Reserve
According to the Cowboys’ official X page, they placed Prescott on the Reserve/Injured list and signed cornerback Josh Butler from the practice squad.
Prescott suffered a partial tendon avulsion in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Cowboys and Prescott agreed to terms on a four-year, $240 million extension ahead of Week 1, making him the highest-paid QB in the league. Unfortunately, it’s been a disaster of a season and continued to get worse.
Dallas now has Cooper Rush under center with Trey Lance as QB2. Neither option is going to improve the Cowboys’ chances of making the postseason this year. With these guys playing the most important position on the field, it’s more likely with each passing day that this will be Mike McCarthy’s final season in Dallas.
They’ll look to snap their four-game skid against the Texans on Monday Night Football, but that will be a tall tale. The Cowboys are 0-4 at AT&T Stadium this season.

Cowboys Legend Begs Dallas to Hire Controversial McCarthy Replacement
With the losses piling up in Dallas, one Cowboys legend is begging owner Jerry Jones to replace Mike McCarthy with a controversial coaching pick.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy’s seat became even hotter with Week 11’s 34-10 loss to the Houston Texans. The loss dropped the Cowboys’ record to 3-7 on the season, all but confirming that America’s Team likely won’t be a participant in the 2024-25 postseason.
Even though owner/general manager Jerry Jones has lamented that there won’t be an in-season coaching change, that hasn’t stopped Dallas supporters from demanding McCarthy’s job. It’s clear that the 60-year-old head coach isn’t the man to end the Super Bowl drought and part of the fanbase believes it’s better to start searching for his replacement now.
It’s at the point where even the franchise’s former players want to see change. Over the weekend, one ex-Cowboys legend made it clear who he wants to see replace McCarthy.
Cowboys News: Michael Irvin Begs Jerry Jones to Hire Deion Sanders
Before Friday’s Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match, which took place at AT&T Stadium, Cowboys legend Michael Irvin appeared alongside Jones, sharing his belief in who should be the team’s next head coach: Deion Sanders.
“I give (Jake Paul) respect like I give my great guy Deion Sanders, who didn’t go the normal route,” Irvin said on the pre-show panel. “Who I’m gonna be in Jerry’s ear about later. That’s just something else we’re talking about.”

It didn’t take long for Irvin to add more fuel to the fire. Following the Cowboys’ loss to the Texans, “Playmaker” took to social media on Tuesday morning to further emphasize what he wants America’s Team to do next.
“I spent Friday night with Jerry Jones. I spent Saturday with Deion Sanders,” Irvin posted to X. “I spent Sunday with the lord PRAYING for ???? ????? (GUEST WHAT).”
“Now after what the Cowboys looked like on Monday Night Football, I must work harder!!!!!”

With players-turned-coaches rising in popularity across the NFL, isn’t surprising that Irvin and some Cowboys fans want to see Sanders replace McCarthy. The former defensive back is a franchise fan favorite and has done a terrific job at turning the University of Colorado’s football program around.
Is Deion Sanders Interested in Cowboys Coaching Job?
As much as fans would love to see Sanders return to Big D, it might take some convincing to do. The 57-year-old college coach told Irvin on Nov. 12 that he loves coaching in Colorado and that he doesn’t have much of a desire to work at the NFL level.
On top of that, NFL insider Conor Orr reported a few days after that that there isn’t any real traction behind Sanders potentially moving back to the Lone Star State.
“I have not been alerted to any seriousness regarding a Deion Sanders and Jerry Jones reunion,” Orr reported for Sports Illustrated on Nov. 14.
It’s going to be interesting to see which direction the Cowboys go in when it comes to the next head coach. Jones is clearly a fan of hiring familiar faces with a proven track record. Although Sanders certainly fits the first half of the equation, his lack of NFL coaching experience could leave him on the outside looking in if he does change his mind.
Whether it’s Sanders or someone proven like Bill Belichick who replaces McCarthy, one thing is clear: the Cowboys can’t afford to make the wrong decision. The Super Bowl drought is approaching 30 years and hiring the wrong head coach could see those woes extended.
With an in-season firing unlikely, McCarthy will look to end the 2024 season on as high of a note as possible. The Cowboys’ next test comes on Sunday with a Week 12 showdown against the rival Washington Commanders.
