Done Deal: Bruno Guimaraes joins Manchester city on “loan” today

Manchester City has been linked to the Brazilian, but a significant transfer setback may soon befall them.

After failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension due to rumored interest from Manchester City, Newcastle are allegedly moving on with contract negotiations with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Since his debut to St James’ Park in January 2022, the Brazilian has established himself as the club’s favorite and played a key role in helping the team qualify for the Champions League this season. Naturally, a number of teams have taken notice of his form.

Newcastle allegedly plans to resume negotiations for a new contract after rejecting inquiries from many powerful European clubs, according to 90 Minutes. At the tail end of last year, the Magpies suspended attempts after failing to reach an agreement with Guimaraes.

According to the report, Real Madrid approached Chelsea and City in January before telling them no in the summer. In order to improve his midfield options, Pep Guardiola ultimately turned to Wolves and paid £53 million to acquire Matheus Nunes. A new contract that will keep Guimaraes with his employers through 2028 is anticipated.

Fichajes claims that if Bernardo Silva had left the team, City might have made an approach for Warren Zaire-Emery of Paris Saint-Germain. Despite Barcelona’s interest, the Portuguese superstar ultimately agreed to a renewal.

This season, Zaire-Emery, 17, has started every game for PSG and recently assisted against Lens. He played in 31 games last season and scored twice, earning him a nomination for the Golden Boy award.

According to the report, Guardiola was interested in the teenager but decided to go with Nunes to bolster his team instead. If the youngster’s trajectory holds, City will probably be connected to him once more the following year.
