Due to a stress injury to his left ankle, big man Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks is probably going to miss the remainder of the team’s 2024 playoff run. In six to eight weeks, Mitchell will have another evaluation. A return at the end of the NBA Finals is very much in the realm of possibility, given the six-week return timeline. Due to “left ankle injury management,” Robinson was initially declared out of Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Pacers. Robinson has been dealing with an ankle issue throughout the season.
Robinson’s extended absence is a serious setback for the Knicks, a team that has depth issues, especially up front.
Robinson was supposed to miss the rest of the season after undergoing ankle surgery in December. But he was able to make a comeback in late March, filling in as Isaiah Hartenstein’s backup center while Robinson was out. Hartenstein took the position as his own.
