Evan Ferguson is a straightforward transfer candidate for Man City.

Evan Ferguson, a teenager from Brighton who is dominating the Premier League, has been linked with a move to Manchester City.

Evan Ferguson should be under close observation by Manchester City at all times.

When a teenager scores a hat-trick in the Premier League, it is not something to dismiss, similar to how their knowledge of Erling Haaland went back to his time at Molde. Aside from his success at Brighton, scoring three goals against a Champions League opponent before turning 19 has put him even more on the radar of prominent European clubs.

Ferguson received a little bit of attention during the recently concluded transfer window, and the Irish forward won’t need to do much more over the course of the rest of the year to guarantee that there will be much more next summer. For City to be interested, there would need to be a significant change at the Etihad.

The fact that Pep Guardiola required a striker was one of the key considerations Haaland used to select City in his list of probable destinations following Dortmund. A City weakness became a huge asset against teams like Real Madrid with Karim Benzema, Paris Saint-Germain with Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar, and Bayern Munich with Robert Lewandowski because Sergio Aguero had been released the year before and Tottenham had refused to sell Harry Kane.

Haaland didn’t need much time to establish why so many of the top players want him, and City will keep the Norwegian for as long as he is content to do so. Although he has stated a desire to play in other leagues, the Blues have a stellar track record of keeping their stars happy in Manchester and have a contract with him that runs until 2027.

Seven City players are included on the 30-person list of nominees for the Ballon d’Or, which also includes Julian Alvarez, the World Cup and Triple Crown winner. The 23-year-old soon persuaded Guardiola that he was another player worth keeping around for as long as possible after coming in Manchester at the same time as Haaland after continuing his career at River Plate following his January 2022 transfer.

Given that they both tend to operate from the same position, it will be intriguing to observe how Alvarez interacts with Haaland, but there have previously been indications that the two may cooperate to devastating effect. The City team may have found the loss of Kevin De Bruyne to injury to be discouraging, but one positive has been the chance to give Alvarez regular starts.
