Fabrizio Romano mentioned players Aston Villa will be signing this transfer season

Aston Villa might try to give Ollie Watkins some much-needed competition in order to strengthen their attack.

Leading football writer and CaughtOffside columnist Fabrizio Romano says the Villains may have internal discussions about bringing in a new striker in the upcoming months.

The 27-year-old Watkins has performed admirably once more this season. In his first 21 games of the season, the Torquay-born striker has already scored 13 goals, including eight in the Premier League.

Regarding the recruitment of a new striker by Aston Villa, what has Fabrizio Romano said?

Even though the England international is playing brilliantly, Unai Emery will want to make sure he doesn’t get complacent and think his place is assured.

Consequently, Romano thinks it might only be a matter of time until Emery enters the transfer market, even though targets have not yet been determined. A new strike partner to assist rival the 27-year-old could therefore be in the works.

In his special Substack column, he wrote, “There’s a chance that Aston Villa signs a backup striker for Watkins, but nothing advanced or concrete yet.”

“At this time, I don’t have any specific names, but it’s possible they will talk about it internally in the coming months.”

Leander Dendoncker, a midfielder who has struggled for playing time since joining from Wolves 18 months ago, is anticipated to be among the first players to leave, even if a new forward may be on the roster at the end of the season.
