“Gakpo might play next match”_ Fabrizio Romano Revealed

In the upcoming winter transfer window, according to trade guru Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United may try to recruit PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo. Leeds United, a Premier League foe, might rekindle their interest in Gakpo in January.

Cody Gakpo, a Dutch international, was on the verge of joining Leeds, but the Red Devils also considered him a serious alternative during the summer transfer window. United ultimately decided to forego Gakpo’s chase and spend €95 million on Ajax star Antony.

The Italian writer asserted that Manchester United and Leeds would soon renew their pursuit of the Dutch forward and make an attempt to sign him to a contract for the January transfer window. Romano (through CaughtOffside) penned the following in his column for CaughtOffside’s Substack::

We are aware that Cody Gakpo came dangerously close to joining Leeds at the end of the summer, and he was also a genuine option for Man United.

Additionally, Romano disclosed that Gakpo and the manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, had an agent. The journalist from Italy continued:

There is a perception that English clubs may pursue Gakpo again in January because they had solid contacts with the player and he and Erik ten Hag share an agent. United is aware that he might be a choice, and his World Cup performance might have an impact on his future.

Gakpo has participated in 13 games this season for PSV in all competitions, contributing with a staggering 10 goals and 9 assists.

Gakpo’s darting dashes, deft link-up play, inventiveness, and top-notch passing tormented the Belgian backline. Gakpo’s inch-perfect corner in the 73rd minute set up teammate Virgil van Dijk’s onslaught. The Liverpool man nodded it in correctly. The Dutch secured a 1-0 victory and a spot in the UEFA Nations League final four thanks to Van Dijk’s goal.

The Manchester United-affiliated attacker showed off his modest flexibility against Belgium by producing five chances, making two accurate crosses, and recording five recoveries.
