If Liverpool possessed an Arsenal or Man City player, Gary Neville says they would be the favorites to win the league.

Tottenham and Arsenal, both from North London, are in first place as the Premier League enters its second international break, but Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are not far behind.

With Declan Rice or Rodri on their team, according to Gary Neville, Liverpool would be the favorites to win the Premier League.

The Reds have had a successful start to the 2023–24 season, suffering just one loss in their first eight league games. That lone setback occurred in their contentious loss to Tottenham.

Jurgen Klopp’s team is in fourth place going into the second international break of the year, three points off of joint-leaders Arsenal and Tottenham. Manchester City, the defending champion, is currently in third place after two consecutive Premier League losses. While Rice and Rodri of Arsenal and Man City are thought to be the perfect candidates, Neville thinks Liverpool should be included among the title contenders but that they cannot sustain a campaign without a more natural defensive midfielder.

He stated: “I think Liverpool are obviously involved in it as well,” on the Gary Neville Podcast. Without a question, they are more likely than Spurs to [have the legs to go all the way].

“Liverpool have a certain allure. They played a pretty strong Brighton team today (Sunday). They have a fantastic goalie who, in my opinion, will keep them in many football games.

They also have a lot of strikers who can score goals. They have a strong front line. The middle… Although it is aggressive, it also possesses the defensive steadiness that we saw here today [at the Emirates], when Rodri returns and you see Rice, Partey, and Jorginho.

Liverpool, do they possess that defensive steadiness? Declan Rice or Rodri in Liverpool’s holding midfield role, in my opinion, would make the team a strong contender for the championship.
