In the Kings’ victory over the 76ers, center Domantas Sabonis breaks Kevin Love’s double-double record.

In the first moments of Monday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Kings center Domantas Sabonis was elbowed in the face, shattering his jaw. Despite this setback, Sabonis continued his unwavering quest for history.

In front of a sellout crowd of 17,832 at Golden 1 Center, Sabonis achieved his 54th consecutive double-double in a 108-96 victory over the 76ers, shattering Kevin Love’s 2010–11 record for the longest single-season streak since the ABA-NBA merger in 1976.

“It’s a privilege,” Sabonis declared. “The greatest league in the world, the NBA, has you in its history. It’s obviously fantastic. Although it’s a wonderful feeling, I’m glad it’s over. Everyone has been talking about it these past few weeks, and I’m just out of touch.
