Is Steelers’ former player Arthur Smith pushing the Falcons out of the Justin Fields trade race?

Trade speculations involving Justin Fields have taken the NFL by storm, particularly with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the upcoming months, the Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields may be available for trade, and the Atlanta Falcons may have competition for his services.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who recently appointed former Falcons coach Arthur Smith as their offensive coordinator, are another team in the market for veteran quarterbacks.

Steve Wyche, an NFL Network expert, feels that the Steelers’ prospects of acquiring Smith are harmed by his hiring in Pittsburgh.

“This discussion regarding the Steelers keeps fascinating me since Arthur Smith didn’t want any part of Justin Fields when he was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons,” Wyche stated on “The NFL Report.” “He may have chosen to draft him. They grabbed Kyle Pitts. Why is the offensive coordinator, who created the offense, suddenly growing fond of Justin Fields?

”  Fields was available to the Falcons as the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but the quarterback-starved team chose tight end Kyle Pitts instead.

The Falcons are more inclined to trade for Smith now that he is out of Atlanta, while the Steelers are less likely to do the same. Fields is liked by coach Mike Tomlin, but it’s difficult to see the team making a trade for him after Smith opted out of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Maybe Fields will have second thoughts, but this might put the Steelers out of his thoughts and increase the likelihood that the Bears quarterback will end up with the Falcons in a trade.
