Cleveland: Two lawmakers from the Cincinnati and Dayton regions are back in Ohio’s Statehouse, hoping to persuade Major League Baseball to rescind Pete Rose’s lifetime ban from baseball and allow him to be inducted into Cooperstown’s Hall of Fame. Rose ultimately came clean about his baseball gambling in 2004 after years of denial while serving as player-manager for the Cincinnati Reds. Never one to wager on his team to lose, he said.
Growing up, Rose was one of my favorite players. Just like I adore the Guardians José Ramírez’s approach to the game today, I also adored his. I liked what I saw, albeit much of what I knew about him came from baseball cards and newspaper box scores.
