Jaylen Brown of the Celtics: ‘Disrespectful’ for Warriors to dare me to shoot the ball.

After leading the Boston Celtics to a 140-88 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, Jaylen Brown spoke out about the team’s defensive approach against him.

Brown, who had a game-high 29 points, told reporters that he thought it was “a little disrespectful” that the Warriors left him wide open in the first quarter and challenged him to shoot.

Brown scored 19 points in the first period, including three consecutive three-pointers in a 40-second span. With his strong start, the Celtics built a 44-22 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Boston led by as much as 56 points in the game, and the 52-point margin of victory is the franchise’s third-largest in history.

Brown went 11-of-19 in the win, making five of his ten three-pointers. The Celtics became the only team in NBA history to win three games by more than 50 points in a single season.

It’s never personal,” Brown remarked of his feelings when teams make him shoot the ball. “I am sure they thought that was their best chance, or whoever came up with their defense strategy. So it is not personal. It felt a little rude to me, but that is what it is. I came out and tried my best.”

Warriors player Draymond Green told reporters after the game that the club used its tactic against Brown “like 15 minutes before we left the locker room.”

Brown responded to a video of Warriors head coach Steve Kerr detailing the team’s approach, noting that he hopes it happens more frequently.

The victory extended the Celtics’ winning streak to 11 games and improved their record to 48-12. Boston’s five-game road trip will begin on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
