Melissa Benoist’s friends, co-stars, and online followers are showing her an enormous amount of love and support. Following the Supergirl actress’ Instagram account of surviving domestic abuse, the hashtag #IStandWithMelissa trended on Twitter.Benoist began to describe the domestic abuse she had endured in a past relationship in the Instagram video, saying, “So I don’t normally do things like this but I’ve written something that I want to share and I have wanted it to stay my words and not have to edit it down for publishing.” “I’m gonna read it out loud, and I’m quite nervous so bear with me.”
The woman, 31, continued: “I am a survivor of domestic violence or IPV (intimate partner violence), which is something I never in my life expected I would say, let alone be broadcasting into the ether.” The Supergirl actress received a tonne of support after sharing her tale with her fan base. Ali Adler, a co-creator of The CW series, stated on Twitter that “anyone can experience something similar if it can happen to #SUPERGIRL.” I’m so happy that @MelissaBenoist shared her story.
Actress Lini Reinhart of Riverdale also supported Benoist on Instagram, posting: “Please take a moment to check out @melissabenoist’s IGTV. Her bravery and strength in sharing her story with the world have deeply touched me. Spread the word, have a conversation with your family, and don’t be afraid to bring up this topic.”
