The Arsenal manager is committed to the Emirates for another two years, but recent rumors have linked him to a move elsewhere, and statements from the man himself may send Gunners fans into a frenzy.
In light of reports that Paris Saint-Germain was interested in luring the Spaniard away from the Emirates, Mikel Arteta has acknowledged that it is “inevitable” that he will one day be fired as manager of Arsenal.
The Arsenal manager is now preparing a series of high-profile deals as Arsenal looks to improve upon its second-place result from the previous campaign. This summer, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Romeo Lavia have all been mentioned as possible transfers to the red region of north London. However, much to the dismay of the Emirates supporters, the manager was also mentioned as a possible exit.
Although Arteta may be the Premier League’s youngest manager, he has enough experience at the top to understand how rapidly things can change in the world of professional football management.
That is precisely why the Spaniard has accepted the possibility that he may eventually be fired from his position as Arsenal manager.
In November, Arteta admitted on Michael Calvin’s Football People podcast that he “probably” has the worst dread of being fired as a manager. “I made a very deliberate choice the day I decided to become a coach, declaring: “It will happen. Right now, tomorrow, in a month, and in ten years. I have no idea when it will occur.
That cannot be the source of my emotion or the rationale behind my actions or inaction. The concern I currently have is of disappointing people.
