IOWA CITY, Iowa:
Caitlin Clark celebrates her golden birthday on Monday.
On January 22, the star Iowa women’s basketball player—who plays for the Hawkeyes wearing No. 22—turned 22.
Early last week, Clark celebrated with his teammates and coaches at a party with a unique Hy-Vee black and gold cake.
Hy-Vee has an image, likeness, and name arrangement with Clark. She also has agreements with Nike, Gatorade, State Farm, and Buick, among others. She gifted a pair of Kyler Murray X Dunk Low “Be One of Ones” sneakers to each of her teammates in honor of her birthday.
On X, Jake from State Farm wished Clark a happy birthday and announced that the company will be donating $22,000 to the Caitlin Clark Foundation in her honor.
With 3,351 career points as of Monday, Clark is ranked fourth on the NCAA all-time scoring chart. That puts him 176 points behind the NCAA record-holder Kelsey Plum, a former Washington standout who scored 3,527 points from 2013 to 2017. Most recently, Clark overtook former Baylor standout Brittney Griner, who finished her career with 3,283 points. Jackie Stiles, the former Missouri State standout, is up next with 42 points against Clark.
On Sunday, the second-ranked Hawkeyes fell to No. 18 Ohio State; following the game, Clark was forced to be carried back to the locker room after colliding with a fan who was storming the court. During the press conference held after the game, she stated that she had been knocked out, but she was fine.
The Hawkeye women’s standing in the most recent AP rankings fell to No. 5. Their next game is against Nebraska on Saturday at home at 1 p.m.
