For Saturday’s match between Wolves and Liverpool, our writers select their starting lineups.
At Molineux, Jurgen Klopp’s biggest decision will be whether to believe Ibrahima Konate is fully recovered after returning to training this week.
Joe Gomez starts again, but this time at right-back with Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, and Konate completing the back four. The Frenchman will have to step up and have a week off in reward, sitting out the Europa League visit to LASK. However, options are a bit thin for Klopp at the back with no Virgil van Dijk or Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Wataru Endo will start in the middle of the field, with Curtis Jones and Dominic Szoboszlai further forward serving as the two wandering No. 8s. Alexis Mac Allister, who spent the international break inhaling oxygen canisters in the “mountains of Bolivia,” to quote Klopp, can wait in the wings while Harvey Elliott can be used if necessary.
Against his former team, Diogo Jota can switch to the left while Cody Gakpo leads the line and Mohamed Salah is, of course, on the right.
