Following the kidnapping of the Liverpool striker, Liverpool has funded a private plane to transport Luis Diaz’s parents and extended family to Merseyside so they can celebrate Christmas with their son.
After their recent experience with kidnapping, Liverpool has flown Luis Diaz’s parents to Merseyside for Christmas.
The National Liberation Army abducted Cilenis Marulanda and his father Luis Manuel; his mother was freed not long after. But before being freed at the end of last week, Luis Manuel was detained for nearly two weeks.
When the Liverpool player reported for international duty earlier this week, he was reunited with his family back in Colombia. Additionally, Liverpool set up a private jet to transport Diaz’s family to Merseyside following an emotional victory over Brazil in which Diaz scored both goals. Early on Saturday morning, the aircraft was scheduled to touch down at John Lennon Airport in Liverpool.
Liverpool has supported Diaz since the incident, and manager Jurgen Klopp gave him compassionate leave. Following his game on Tuesday in Paraguay, Diaz will return to his family in Liverpool.
Along with Alisson Becker, Darwin Nunez, and Alexis Mac Allister, the other South American players for the club, he will be returning home on a jet that numerous Premier League clubs chartered in order to send their players home as soon as possible. The players faced off in Argentina’s 2-1 loss to Uruguay.
After Colombia’s triumph in Barranquilla, Alisson and Diaz hugged each other, and the latter gave an emotional post-match interview to honor his teammate. “Alisson is a wonderful person and is really happy. He has been with me for the past fifteen days; he is a wonderful person, and he has helped me get through this trying time,” Diaz remarked.
Thank God, we have experienced hardships. However, just as in life, we earned this win since the coach and the players both went through an incredible process. Give the people credit for the triumph.
It takes suffering to win a war, and that’s exactly what happened. I believe that football, and not just football, but life itself, is what makes you strong and brave.”
