Lucas Bergvall, a gifted Swedish player, made the incredible decision to join Tottenham Hotspur over Barcelona.
The 17-year-old midfielder is one of the most sought-after prospects in Europe, and it looked like he would be joining Barcelona.
Spurs, however, persisted in their chase under the direction of their Danish technical director Johan Lange, and on Thursday night, they were able to persuade Bergvall to choose them.
Bergvall, who turns 18 on Friday, is expected to travel to London for a medical examination and to sign a five-year contract with the north London team for a fixed fee of approximately €10 million (£8.5 million, $10.9 million) plus add-ons. He will remain at Djurgarden for the remainder of this season before joining Spurs’ senior squad in the summer.
On Monday, Bergvall paid a visit to Tottenham and had meetings with important figures like as head coach Ange Postecoglou and chairman Daniel Levy. On Tuesday, he was seen in Barcelona doing something similar.
After Spurs convinced Bergvall that his career should continue there after a deal with Barcelona was nearly completed, they will now look to bring in another outstanding addition.
