The National Liberation Army (ELN), a guerrilla organization, has been holding Diaz’s father captive in his native country for more than a week.
Although his father, Luis Manuel Diaz, has not yet been freed, his mother, Cilene Marulanda, was set free the same night his parents were kidnapped from the streets.
Police are reportedly getting ready for his release, according to a recent story from the Colombian daily Semana.
It is said that in order to enable his release, the effort to remove security force personnel from the Venezuelan border has started.
