Additionally, Manu Katché announces that he will tour with Gabriel in 2023.
According to his drummer, Peter Gabriel will tour in support of his first new record in 20 years, which will be released this year. The announcement follows Gabriel’s statement to NME earlier this month that he “hopes to have something out by the end of the year” and that he “has a lot of songs I’m trying to get finished.”
Gabriel’s veteran drummer Manu Katché stated in a recent interview with L’Illustré that the group is “finishing our new album” and plans to release it on a global tour the following year. In 2020, Gabriel also discussed his efforts on new music, saying to Uncut, “I have enough songs that I like to make a record I’m proud of, but I’m excited by what is being cooked at the moment— I have been slowed down quite a bit by lockdown, we haven’t been able to have Dickie, my engineer, here.”
When asked whether an album would follow shortly, he said, “It would depend on how you define’soon,’ but the answer is yes!” On May 19, 2022, in London, England, Peter Gabriel attends The Ivor Novello Awards 2022 at The Grosvenor House Hotel.
