Two of tennis’s most well-known rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, have teamed up for a new ad campaign for luxury clothing company Louis Vuitton. Renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz captured the couple in the Italian Dolomites mountains for the “Core Values” campaign.
The ad emphasizes the ambition, commitment, and spirit of exploration that are central to the Vuitton brand. Despite having been bitter rivals for more than 15 years and winning 42 Grand Slam titles between them, Federer and Nadal grew close as their careers came to an end.
Working together on this is special after being such fierce competitors, said 20-time major champion Roger Federer. In behind-the-scenes video, the two were seen enduring the cold, with Rafael Nadal making light of the fact that he wasn’t as used to the snow as his Swiss opponent.
22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal expressed gratitude for being a part of the renowned campaign. “It’s an honor to share it with Roger; I know the iconic people who have been a part of this,” he said.
Sports legends such as Muhammad Ali and Steffi Graf have been featured in the “Core Values” campaign since its launch in 2007. This version captures the brand’s tagline, “Journeys that turn into legends,” by showcasing the legendary sporting journeys and friendship between Federer and Nadal.
