Najee Harris, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ running back, is off to a great start in his career.
I understand that some people believe he could have done better, but when you look at what was in front of him for the first three years of his career, achieving the 1,000 mark for three straight seasons is pretty outstanding.
Pittsburgh now knows just how much it will cost to keep Najee hammering the rock for them.
Harris made the Pro Bowl as an alternate for the 2021 season, thus he will earn a total of $6.79 million fully guaranteed upon signing if Pittsburgh chooses to exercise his fifth-year option.
In my opinion, this is a no-brainer. Even in an undervalued position, that is a modest price to pay, especially considering Harris has started every game of his career, has been highly durable, is a team captain, and has totaled over 4100 all-purpose yards in just three years.
The Steelers should not have to wait until May 2nd to determine whether to take or decline his option for 2025.
