An aggressive attack from the Bavarians. Not so much the defense.
Kingsley Coman, Harry Kane, and Leon Goretzka all scored for Bayern Munich, which might indicate that the offense is finally coming together.
Swap a jersey for Brajan Gruda
On the field, Brajan Gruda had the best dribbling ability. Given that Jamal Musiala and the young German shared the field, that says a lot. In addition to giving Anthony Caci the assist, Gruda continuously created a threat on Mainz’s right flank. The clearest illustration of this occurred when Gruda sped past multiple Bayern defenders in the 89th minute, only to have his shot hit the upright. At the youthful age of 19, Gruda shown such poise against Bayern Munich; he is undoubtedly a player to watch out for
.
Kim Min-jae, Der Kaiser
Kim Min-jae has quietly put together a standout series of performances. This match was no different. Kim is known within the Bayern team as “Monster” because of his tremendous power and speed. The South Korean’s physicality was undoubtedly on full display, as evidenced by the 66th-minute takedown of Gruda, but it was his passing that stood out. 100 passes were attempted, and 100 were successful. a 100% success rate. Bayern’s own “Monster” put in a really tidy display
Soccer player: Jamal Musiala
For Jamal Musiala, it has been a busy week both on and off the field. Despite all the rumors that the 20-year-old was dissatisfied with his current position, he delivered a strong performance. Musiala wasn’t great, but gosh, the kid can dribble. Along with Gruda, Musiala completed the most dribbles of any player with six. In the 59th minute, he also managed to record his second season assist by assisting Goretzka in scoring.
Kingsley Coman, “Der Bomber”
Son, what a finish. Kingsley Coman did a fantastic job of slotting home for Bayern’s first goal after receiving criticism for his subpar finishing vs SC Freiburg. Leroy Sané was the main conduit for most of Bayern’s activity on the left side, but Coman frequently found himself in a ton of space down the right side of the field thanks to some precise passing from Joshua Kimmich. Throughout the game, this undoubtedly gave the Mainz defense some trouble. Even if Coman is still not at his best, tonight was a positive step
.
Leon Goretzka won the game’s MVP honors.
This should serve as a clear reminder of the value Leon Goretzka, a midfielder who can wreck havoc in the opponent area, offers to this club. Goretzka skillfully headed Musiala’s cross back across the box, right to the Englishman, setting up Harry Kane for the score.
In the 59th minute, the ex-Schalke player also scored a goal of his own by driving the ball into the bottom left corner. It is quite perplexing that so many people have written Leon Goretzka off after such a fantastic performance. Even though it’s well known that Thomas Tuchel isn’t the greatest Goretzka fan, he still has a lot to offer this Bayern Munich squad.
