Michael van Gerwen won three Premier League evening matches in a row, defeating Nathan Aspinall 6-4 in Newcastle to improve his lead to eight points.

 

Van Gerwen followed up his triumphs in Berlin and Glasgow with another in the North East, defeating Gerwyn Price 6-4 in the quarterfinals and Luke Littler 6-5 in a thrilling semi-final.

 

The Dutchman, who now has 15 points for the season, dropped the first two legs to Aspinall before winning five straight as he appeared to be on his way to a straightforward triumph at the Utilita Arena.

However, Aspinall, who had his first wins of the season over Michael Smith and Rob Cross, fought back and caught the Big Fish of 170 to make the score 5-4.

 

 

Nathan Aspinall hit the Big Fish in the final against Michael van Gerwen.

Van Gerwen then took double 18 for the match after Aspinall missed two double 16 attempts, forcing a deciding leg.
