Red Sox fans will be excited by this new report on Jordan Montgomery.

Before the Major League Baseball regular season begins, the Red Sox may have a huge move under their sleeves.

While spring training in the major leagues is already under way, there are still a few elite free agents available. One of them is Jordan Montgomery, who just finished an amazing 2023 season and was a major contributor to the Texas Rangers’ World Series victory.

Montgomery might have an instant impact in Boston, as it is said that Craig Breslow and team are giving the elite left-hander “prioritization.” Additionally, veteran MLB analyst Peter Gammons claims that negotiations for a contract between Montgomery and the Red Sox may be progressing.

“We hear the Red Sox and Scott Boras had a good meeting recently and may eventually get some deal done on Jordan Montgomery,” stated one NL executive yesterday. Gammons arrived at X early on Monday.

Montgomery is a perfect fit in Boston. Montgomery might fill the vacuum left by the Red Sox’s lack of a dependable ace in a division where he spent the first five or more seasons of his career. The 31-year-old has also become more acquainted with Boston as his spouse is a dermatology resident at one of the city’s hospitals.

It goes without saying that the Red Sox or any other interested team would not be getting Montgomery for free. To stay competitive in the fiercely competitive American League, though, Boston could be wise to make a high-paying signing.
