Robinson’s reps reportedly visited with the Steelers during the NFL Combine.
The NFL Combine, a team and media mecca, has sparked a flurry of new speculations. On Sunday, reports surfaced that the Steelers may be willing to trade wide receiver Diontae Johnson.
Today, a report surfaced about another Steelers wide receiver. According to Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, the Steelers are open to keeping cut candidate Allen Robinson II on their 2024 roster, but would “prefer to retain him at a reduced salary.” Meirov also stated that Robinson’s reps and Steelers executives met in Indianapolis at the combine.
According to Spotrac, Robinson’s cap hit for 2024 is $11,917,500. If released, he would incur a $1,917,500 dead cap hit.
Robinson recorded 34 receptions for 280 yards and no touchdowns in 2023 with the Steelers, his lowest totals since a one-game season with Jacksonville in 2017.
Although Robinson hasn’t been a productive wide receiver in Pittsburgh, he has stood out for his professionalism and willingness to block. At 6’2″ and 220 pounds, he fits the wide receiver profile sought by new Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
