Pep Guardiola has declined to respond to rumors that Manchester City is close to signing Erling Haaland, a striker for Borussia Dortmund.
The Norwegian’s £63 million release clause is reportedly about to be activated by City after personal terms, including a weekly income of £500,000, were agreed upon with the 21-year-old’s representation.
Although Haaland is one of the hottest properties in the league, City manager Guardiola would not comment on the rumors.
The City executive replied to a question during a news conference by saying, “No answer to your question.”
When pressed further, he added: “No response to these queries. Right now, I’m more focused on other issues and tasks than I am on what will transpire at this club the following season.
Due to Sergio Aguero’s departure at the end of the previous season, City have been without a true center-forward this year.
They have been effective this season while playing with a false nine, but after failing in a well-publicized bid to wrest Harry Kane away from Tottenham last summer, it is believed they may once more focus on a specialist striker.
