A handful of Arsenal’s first-team players will have their contracts expire in the summer of 2024, thus choices must be announced in the coming months.
Although Arsenal has recently mastered the art of contract talks, up to five first-team players could walk away from the club in 2024 when their contracts expire.
Under the direction of manager Mikel Arteta, sports director Edu Gaspar, and director of football operations Richard Garlick, whose primary responsibility is to negotiate contracts with both current and new players, the Gunners have secured the futures of several important players throughout the course of the previous year.
For other senior players, whose contracts at the Emirates Stadium have reached their final eight months, the future remains uncertain. This may not be a bad thing since Arteta may be willing to let certain people go or may only be debating whether to exercise any one-year extension options.
The players involved are listed below, and a decision will need to be announced in the upcoming months in one manner or another.
Jorginho
The £12 million trade from Chelsea to Arsenal was part of the Italian international’s short-term contract, which runs out at the conclusion of the current campaign. However, it remains to be seen whether his contract’s one-year extension option would be exercised.
There is now a strong possibility that Jorginho will choose to go in quest of consistent first-team play. After all, he’s thought to be a target for Xavi Hernandez as he attempts to increase Barcelona’s midfield depth, and his agent, Joao Santos, hasn’t exactly played down the prospect of a return to Italy next summer.
