The most recent Aston Villa news is available on BirminghamLive, where Ollie Watkins, John McGinn, Emi Martinez, and Ezri Konsa are selected by former Villa manager Dean Smith.
Smith discussed Ezri Konsa’s first England call-up during an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club. The 26-year-old defender is one of Emery’s four main players, along with Emi Martinez, John McGinn, and Ollie Watkins. Three of those players—Martinez, Konsa, and Watkins—were actually signed by Smith for a total of £57 million, and McGinn paid a reported £3 million to be at Villa Park prior to Smith taking over.
“He’s (Konsa) a top lad and a top player,” he stated. “I watch him now in Unai’s squad, and Martinez, Konsa, McGinn, and Watkins are the players who the team looks to when they need a boost.
“Ezri has spent the most of it as the go-to player. He is extremely dependable, unwavering, and deserving of his call-up.
“I have signed very few people twice. Ezri was signed by Brentford, and I believe we paid £2 million to acquire him from Charlton. He reads the game so well and has a great understanding of it. He’s quick, agile, and skilled in one-on-one combat.
