Together, Charm City’s crown jewels will contribute significantly to a worthy cause.
The Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund of the Baltimore Community Foundation will receive a combined $10 million from the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles, with each professional sports team committing a matching $5 million.
The Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund was founded following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge late last month. Its purpose is to support the recovery and resilience of families, port workers, first responders, small businesses, and communities affected by the tragedy on March 26. Contributions support regional efforts to heal, whether they are answering a cry for help or honoring the lives of loved ones lost. Coordinated with the Foundation’s strategic partners are all humanitarian operations.
“The owners of the Ravens, Steve Bisciotti, extend their sincere condolences to the victims and their families of this tragic event,” a statement said. “We appreciate the bravery and nonstop labor of our first responders. It is an honor for the Ravens to assist the people and businesses in Maryland that have been impacted by the Francis Scott Key Bridge recovery work. We have no doubt that in this hour of extreme need, Baltimore and Maryland will continue to show incredible fortitude and resilience.
“Our city’s resilience has been severely tested once more,” stated Orioles owner and native of Baltimore, David M. Rubenstein, in a statement. “The Orioles offer this contribution to support those who keep our city, state, and country in business, under the direction of Governor Wes Moore and in partnership with the Ravens.”
Donations can be made here by anyone wishing to help the Baltimore Community Foundation’s Key Bridge even more.
