Watch Match: Boston Bruin vs Senator highlight

Watch the Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins game highlights from January 25, 2024.

Being an Edmonton Oilers fan is enjoyable right now.

At least for the time being.

For the better part of a month, residents of Alberta, the furthest north in the NHL, have been on an incredible tear. They have amassed 14 victories in a run that is currently the best in league history for a team based in Canada, and they are only three wins shy of the all-time record of 17 set by the Pittsburgh Penguins en route to winning the 1992–93 Presidents’ Trophy.

Still, the Penguins are generally remembered as underachievers because of their unexpected playoff collapse in the second round, which came after two straight Stanley Cup victories.

The 2023–24 Oilers’ final price is still unknown, but their current run of success has paid off in the B/R Power Rankings, as they have climbed three spots further to secure a spot in the top five for the first time this season, having finished as low as 31st in November.

The Boston Bruins have also been on a roll, winning five straight games to move up from fourth to first place after receiving all but one of the first-place votes from the panel.

The Vancouver Canucks, who received the other first-place vote and finished in second, are one slot below them. The Colorado Avalanche moved up from fifth to fourth, but the Winnipeg Jets maintained their lead despite dropping two spots from first to third.

Total Score: 13-31-4

The volatile Sharks are starting to turn things around once more. After winning just once in their previous 15 games, they have gone 3-0-1 in their last four.

San Jose fell behind the Rangers, for whom coach David Quinn previously worked, 2-0 before rallying twice in the third quarter on Tuesday to win in overtime.

“Couldn’t be prouder of this team,” he stated, “and I’ve been proud of them on many occasions in a tough season, but no more so than I am [Tuesday].”

31. The Chicago Blackhawks
