With a spirited 3-1 victory over West Ham at Anfield, Liverpool maintained their unblemished start and climbed to second place in the Premier League standings.
Early in the game, Mohamed Salah’s penalty gave Jurgen Klopp’s team the lead, and even though Jarrod Bowen tied the score before halftime, Darwin Nunez’s volley on the hour regained the lead. Late in the game, Diogo Jota came off the bench to secure the points with a tight shot.
Despite having opportunities throughout and playing well, West Ham lost for the second time in a row, the first one coming against Manchester City. Now they are the seventh.
