NEW DELHI: The knee injury sustained by running back James Conner has caused the Arizona Cardinals to face yet another setback in their 2023 campaign. The team’s top rusher, Conner, was having an outstanding season until Week 5 when he suffered a knee injury. The injury to their star player is a major setback for the Cardinals, who are having a difficult season.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero verified James Conner’s transfer to the injured reserve. His knee injury suffered during the Cardinals’ Week 5 game against the Cincinnati Bengals led to this decision. Conner will miss four games as a consequence of being placed on the injured reserve. He can play again at any moment after Week 9, having first gone into the reserve during Week 6.

Conner’s injury occurred during a spectacular 35-yard run in the Week 5 Cardinals game against the Bengals. Conner left the field quickly after feeling his knee ache, walking through the tunnel and ending the game. He was placed on injured reserve following the game, and that is where he is still at the moment while the club gets ready to play the Cleveland Browns in Week 9.

Conner’s earliest potential comeback date is the Cardinals’ game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10. This schedule corresponds with the mandated four-week leave of absence following placement on the injured reserve. Tony Jones Jr. and Emari Demercado, the Cardinals’ backup running backs, will be expected to bear the weight at the position in the interim. Even though they are raw talent, they must put up their finest games to aid the squad in getting over its difficult 1–7 start to the campaign.
