The Celtics will be without a number of key players as they get ready to play the Bucks, but one individual has stepped forward to fill in for them.
There are always important players on every team and in every sport. Men who outperform others in production, in defense, or just in inspiring others. All this is to say, unless you have a person like Derrick White, losing a player of that caliber is never easy.
That person is Derrick White.
The Boston Celtics faced the Detroit Pistons on Monday night without the support of Sam Hauser, Al Horford, Jrue Holiday, or Jayson Tatum. They had Jaylen Brown, of course, but they also had Derrick White, who proved to be an excellent addition that evening. In terms of his performance, Brown, 27, finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. In a game that saw the Celtics win 119-94, White finished with 22 more points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for his first career triple-double
The men in green currently have a 54-14 record and are comfortably atop the Eastern Conference with ten games separating them from the No. 2 seed after the victory at the TD Garden. With 14 games left, who is in second place in the East? The Milwaukee Bucks are the club the Celtics will play on Tuesday night. As a result, one would be inclined to argue that the outcome of the game won’t really affect the dynamic between the teams; however, each should be prepared to give it their all in an effort to outdo the other.
However, we must return it to White. The 29-year-old was outstanding that evening as he consistently moved the ball around the perimeter and made baskets of his own. In fact, he had already scored 17 points, pulled down 7 rebounds, and given out 7 assists by the half. White was obviously a man on a mission now that Tatum and Holiday were out of the picture.
Curiously, as he edged closer to the triple-double threshold, you could see that his teammates comprehended that concept as well, as the vast majority of them made the effort to shoot whenever they received a pass from him. With that, the Celtics have won six straight games and are getting ready to host the Bucks on Tuesday. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Make sure not to miss it!
