With £52m Jürgen Klopp “keen to Brussia Dortmund start

Donyell Malen of Borussia Dortmund is allegedly a target for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp mulls a raid on his old team.

Malen, a 24-year-old right winger, has had a productive opening seven games of the German season, scoring four goals and making two more.

Sport Bild reports that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been interested in Donyell Ma since before he joined Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven in 2021. Malen’s Dortmund contract runs until 2026, so Bild claims it would take at least £52 million to persuade them to sell. However, Bild also claims that Malen could provide good backup for Mohamed Salah or even be his long-term successor.

Speedy Netherlands winger Malen has long been a favorite of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

Malen has some football experience in England, having spent two years in the ranks of Arsenal’s youth between 2015 and 2017.

In August 2017, the Gunners sold him to PSV, where he made an impression with 55 goals and 24 assists in 116 appearances.

After scoring just five Bundesliga goals in his debut season at Dortmund in 2021–2022, he was swiftly written off, but he has since developed into the position.

Malen has lots of time to improve his game and raise his worth at the age of 24.

As is becoming more apparent this season, Klopp already has a wealth of exciting attacking alternatives at his disposal.

The ‘Fab Five’ of Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo have already made an impression in the early week of the season.
