Zhang Anda of China defeated Mark Selby 6-5 as the Englishman mounted a comeback, advancing to face Mark Allen in the Players Championship final.
Zhang took the lead 4-0 in Telford after starting with a 129 break and adding breaks of 80, 69, and 84.
After that, Selby won five of the following six frames, with breaks of 62, 84, and 114, to tie the match at five games apiece.
In the final, Zhang broke 50 to win the match after Selby missed a brown.
“I’m just really happy I could win because he fought back when I had a 4-0 lead,” Zhang, who advanced to his third ranking final of the year, on TV.
“I played very well in the deciding game, the first red into the centre pocket gave me a chance to make 50 points.”
