Bayern Munich star player will be missing the rest of the season

Alphonso Davies was the left-back on whom Bayern Munich had to rely for the first three months of the season. Raphael Guerreiro is expected to experience further injury setbacks in the upcoming weeks, therefore the Canadian is likely to play regularly. The Portuguese full-back, who joined Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, has been sidelined for a sizable amount of time.

Guerreiro had a thigh strain in training this week, and Die Roten announced in a statement on Sunday that he will miss some time. The Portuguese defender did not travel with the team to play Freiburg on Sunday.

Due to a muscle issue, Raphael Guerreiro missed the whole preseason tour. The Portuguese full-back recently earned his Bayern debut against Preussen Munster in the DFB Pokal. He made his Bundesliga debut for Die Roten during the 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig last weekend.

Given that Guerreiro is a key member of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, it is a serious setback for Bayern. The Portuguese defender can play in the central midfield position at a high level and compete with Davies for the left back position. Guerreiro needed to be healthy for the remainder of the Hinrunde given how frail Die Roten’s midfield is.

Guerreiro’s return has not been given a specific timetable by Bayern. It appears that he will require weeks to recover before rejoining the first team’s training given the substance of the statement. Guerreiro has suffered two muscular injuries in the last three months; Tuchel and Bayern will be hoping for a speedy recovery and the absence of relapses.

If Guerreiro is unavailable, Rekordmeister may choose Noussair Mazraoui to fill in at left back if Davies needs a break. The Moroccan full-back has previously represented both his country and Die Roten.

Along with Guerreiro, Serge Gnabry is also presently receiving medical attention for a forearm issue. The German forward’s victory over Preussen Munster in the DFB Pokal left him with a significant forearm injury. After last week, Gnabry underwent surgery to fix the damage. Due to this injury, he is anticipated to miss four to six weeks of work.

The recovery from a catastrophic leg injury for Manuel Neuer is also getting closer. Due to this ailment, the German goalie has been sidelined since December. After the break for international play, Neuer is anticipated to face Mainz.
