Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil Van Dijk have not traveled with Liverpool for their Europa League match on Thursday night in Toulouse.
Because of his illness, Van Dijk was not risked, as 20-year-old Jarell Quansah could take his position at center back.
Due to a knee injury, Gravenberch is sidelined, compounding Jurgen Klopp’s problems in the midfield (Curtis Jones is already out).
Prior to the weekend’s tie with Luton, Jones was added to the list of injuries; Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara are the only other long-term absences.
Wataru Endo is expected to start as Liverpool looks to secure a spot in the knockout rounds with two games remaining. Harvey Elliott, who impressed when he came off the bench at Kenilworth Road, will likely start alongside him.
With reference to his team’s injuries, Klopp stated, “Virgil is a little bit ill but it won’t be a big thing.”
“I think it was clear that we didn’t want to bring him on the plane—perhaps some of the other players also have this illness.” I kind of have it, but it’s not a big deal for me.
However, we left Van Dijk at home, so there shouldn’t be any issues over the weekend.
“Ryan was running today in training, but there was no chance for him to play in this game. We hope he gets a chance against Brentford, but if not, he will definitely be back after the international break.” Ryan had a minor niggle in his knee.
